Bowling Alley (Bowl America), on strip behind VA 28, Manassass, VA ** Information provided by Keefer. ** 6/93 ** Strong indications that the same company that handles Fun Time handles this place. There are no identifying stickers anywhere on games in either place, though. Strange. ? - Dracula, moderate? tilt, hard to move, replay 114M, GC 774M, my (Keefer's) loop champ. 13, 50c. ** The replay is NOT fixed on this game. Works well. Hard to play for some unexplainable reason. Haven't played it very much yet. ? - Lethal Weapon 3, sensitive tilt (also hard to move), replay 105M, default scores, 50c ** The flipper rubbers seem a little worn, but the flippers are actually fairly comfortable. The first time I played it, I had my best LW3 game ever, which was like 204M. Even got a double jackpot tonight. :) ** Replay keeps going down. Scores seem to reset often. My best effort is now around 350M. Flip Dizzy's Arcade (off VA 28), Manassass, VA ** Information provided by Keefer. ** 6/93 ** I know the guy who owns the place. A really nice guy, but he rarely gets a new pin. Often goes for long periods without pin maintenence. ? - Diner, moderate tilt, replay 4.6M, HS 28M, 25c ** Haven't played recently, but last time I did, the cash ramp tended to stick up. This game has some serious wear and tear, but is in decent condition. There was a time when all the HSs averaged 60M. ? - Radical, moderate tilt, replay 5.2M, HS 28M, 25c ** The upper right flipper, having previously just been clean taken OFF, now has a new one on it, which is pretty powerful. Machine's still pretty much a joke, though. Fun Time Arcade (in plaza w/ Family Dollar), Manassass Park, VA ** Information provided by Keefer. ** 6/93 ** This place takes AMAZING care of their pins. Really quite a find! Y - Rocky & Bullwinkle, sensitive tilt, ONE warning, Hat Trick diverter IS working, replay fixed at 330M (still 20M boost), high scores generally around 450M, 50c. ** Nice game and fun to play, though sometimes frustrating, but that's mostly because it's R&B. It wouldn't be so bad, but the replay is just soooo hard to get. I've gotten 455M. Y - Dracula, moderate tilt, Missed Multiball(TM) doesn't work (software compensation turned on), replay 250M (don't know if it's fixed yet), EB @ 5-6 loops, my (Keefer's) GC 1.44B and loop champion 34, 50c. ** A decent playing game, but it's still Dracula. I did well on it for my first time, though. ** The weird thing about this game is that it'll keep a 4th ball IN THE DRAIN while there are three balls in the trough. Must be because MM is turned off. So when you first walk up to the game, you can see a ball chilling in the drain. When you start a game, you be served a ball, and the 4th one will be kicked into the trough. Disconcerting at first to say the least, but you get used to it. Also, the castle doesn't hold balls, so every time you lock a ball, you wind up with 2 at the plunger. The game knows it, though, so when you drain one you keep on going just fine. Time Out (on upper level of Springfield Mall), Springfield, VA ** Information provided by Keefer. ** 3/93 ** The main reason I came all the way up here is because I thought they often got the newest stuff. At least they had a TAF when it was fairly new, from what I hear. I really expected to maybe find a CFTBL here, but their pins (except Star Wars) are pretty unremarkable. They DO have Virtuality stuff, though. So it's video-stuff they care about, but not pins. Oh well. ** All of the pins here seem to have 3 replay values. Also, they don't seem to have GC scores! Very weird. Also, there is a good possibility that these replay values are fixed. Star Wars, anyway, didn't even reflex on a game-to-game basis. Specials are probably something other than free games, because I got one on T2 (surprise, surprise), and it didn't give one to me. Didn't get a special on any other game. (Well, I only played 3...) Y - Star Wars, low to mod. tilt, 1st replay 120M (not sure about other 2), my (Keefer's) GC 1.084B, 3/1.00 ** MAN, you thought SW was easy before?? You ain't seen NOTHIN yet... It was just incredibly, insanely easy to hit the ramp from the right flipper. I got the GC my 2nd-3rd game. I just can't understand why the previous high was only 574M. Alltogether too easy to get 100 ramps. I got the 73M ramp award on 2 different games. The second time I was getting bored with playing it at that point. Also, the Victory Lap shot (25M loop shot for getting replay) was about enough for the NEXT replay value (BOTH times!), which is why I don't know what exactly the others were... 1 warning per Death Save (sometimes not even that). I walked away from 14 credits! Probably could've worked it up to the max. of 30. ? - Lethal Weapon 3, 3/1.00, turned off N - Hurricane, 3 replays, no GC, 25c. Very powerful flippers, but they can't seem to hit the shots right, except the Comet ramp. Ferris Wheel doesn't register (I wondered about that dot...) ? - Cactus Jacks, 25c, hahahahaha... ** Just glancing at it, the table DID seem in pretty good shape (I wonder why?). Time Out II (on lower level of Springfield Mall), Springfield, VA ** Information provided by Keefer. ** See notes above. ? - Party Zone, seemed OK, didn't play, 3/1.00 ? - High Speed II, seemed OK, didn't play, 25c N - Terminator 2, moderate tilt, missing 1 ball, flippers shoot gun & launch ball, replays 40M, 80M, 120M ** Game just seems unfair for some reason. God knows where the ball is... ? - Hook, replay 65M (probably more), didn't play, 25c Tilt in Tyson's Corner Mall, Tyson's Corner, VA ** Information provided by Keefer. ** 3/93 ** For a place called "Tilt," it certainly doesn't live up to its name. 2 pins here, 1 turned off, and 1 sucks. Even a lot of the video games they have here are old and in bad shape. Sad, for the supposedly best mall in the DC area... N - Earthshaker!, replay 1.8M, this game is a total joke ? - Checkpoint, would've liked to have played it, but it was off Bowling Alley (Warrenton Lanes), Warrenton, VA ** Information provided by Keefer. ** Haven't been here yet. ** I understand they have F-14, Taxi, Eight Ball Champ, and Strange Science. I've seen all of 1 of those (Taxi) before. Yes sir, nothing but the newest here. %) Flip Dizzy's Arcade (in Warrenton Village), Warrenton, VA ** Information provided by Keefer. ** This place is closed now. Pool hall next to FD (in Warrenton Village), Warrenton, VA ** Information provided by Keefer. ** 5/93. ** Nice enough people. I think they got tired of me over the summer constantly playing TAF. Every machine they get here is 5 balls. Whoever supplies them is getting worse and worse. Since I've been coming here, they've gone from TAF -> Cactus Jack's -> Phantom of the Opera. The latter 2 I've spent a grand total of $1 each. I just don't go in until I see they've gotten something different. ** OK, they got something different. A practically brand-new CBW! Loads of fun to play. Y - Cue Ball Wizard, replay 177M, moderate tilt, hard to move, *5* balls, my (Keefer's) GC 2.2B, 3/1.00. ** 5-ball rules inlcude no ramp-lights-ramp, and multiball on 5th ball if you haven't had it. Great shape except for maybe 3 burned-out wagon wheel lights. Oh - there seems to be a limit of 1 credit per game, including EVERYTHING. Get a replay or a special, and that's IT. Includes nothing for getting the high score! Champion's (off US 29/50), Fairfax, VA ** Information provided by Keefer. ** 5/93. Y - Creature From the Black Lagoon - sensitive tilt, replay 74M, *5* balls, my (Keefer's) GC 550M, 4/1.50. ** 5-ball rules include NO snackbar spotting of targets, NO pop bumper rotation of targets, KISS resets at end of multiball, 30 hits to light SJ, NO free pass. Really quite hard. ** It's fairly hard to hit the Creature ramp for multiplier. ? - Cactus Jack's - haven't played it yet, 3/1.00. ** This game replaced a CBW. Oh well. Bowling Alley (some Fair Lanes place, off US 29), Centreville, VA ** Information provided by Keefer. ** 5/93 (first visit) ** People at front desk really quite nice when it comes to dealing with the machines, as opposed to most of the "NO REFUNDS" signs seen in bowling alleys. Y - Rocky & Bullwinkle - very sensitive tilt, ONE warning, replay 420M (!), 50c. ** Machine's in good shape, but replay 420M?!? Give me a break. Usually can't make death saves (too easy to tilt). Y - Fish Tales - low tilt, replay 90M, GC 560M, drop target sticks up when reset (i.e. machine can't retract it), 50c. ** Pretty fun to play, would be exceptional if not for the drop target problem. I'll go back soon to take the GC.
