Apple has a beta version available. I believe they would like to get this

I'm desperately seeking a True-Type or Postscript version of a font called
"Gregorian." I have only a screen font suitcase version of it containing
the bit maps of 14 pt., 18 pt., 24 pt., and 36 pt. If no one is familiar
with the font, is there an intuitive enough utility to create a set of
True-Type instructions for it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in
advance.

Several DOS/Windows gurus have told me Symantec isn't the same outfit it
was with Peter Norton, who left not long ago. They have been having
problems with Norton Utilities, especially (now removing it from all
DOS/Windows systems), which has also been a problem with me in a Macintosh
environment. Norton Fastback erased my entire hard disk one day, and an
honest Symantec tech support told me I would be better advised to use
something else (he recommended Retrospect, which I now use happily). From
all this I'd be inclined to assume that I have to start living my life
without Symantec.

>My current concern relates to Leslye's new Kodak DC50 digital camera.

I just bought the Kodak DC50 and have had zero problems with it or the
PhotoEnhancer software. I'm using it on a Power Mac 7100/80 running System
7.5.5. Have you tried reinstalling the software?

And if you're interested, I ordered the Photoenhancer Plus upgrade ($69) --
not arrived yet. And I'm also using the 4MB SanDisk FlashDisk memory card
and the AC power adapter. The 4MB memory card holds 34 "Better" images (64
"Good" or 24 "Best"). But I'm mainly itrigued by their 85MB card (cost
unknown but probably beyond me), which is rated at 575 Best images, 863
Better images, and ">999" Good images. Good grief, with a gadget like that
I could take pictures forever.

Really useful there, Ked.

Now, there are several cache detetors out there. i believe there's one
called "the l2 cache detector" or something quite similar. You might try a
search at the hyperarchives at MIT (they search the entire info-mac library
very quickly). I don't have a link, but there's one off my home page

Hi Don,
I wrote a program called "KeyCommander" that lets you assign keystrokes
to menus. It's a little dated now and due for an update but you might want
to give it a try. It's available on InfoMac or from its home page:

Subject: Mis-diagnosis with Tech Tool???

I recently installed Open Transport on one of my Macs as well as OT/PPP.
Once I was finished the installing and restarted the computer, I ran Tech
Tool (latest version) to do a routine System Analysis. To my surprise,
it told me that I had a damaged System file and to replace it with a
fresh copy. So I did just that. In fact, I went through all the trouble
of starting up from another hard disk, trashing the "damaged" System
file, doing a clean reinstall to get a "fresh" one, and then proceeded to
reinstall Open Transport all over again on top of that (both versions,
1.1.1, then 1.1.2).

After restarting the Mac again, I ran Tech Tool once more. It gave me
the same diagnosis as before--damaged System file--on this brand new
System file. I had experienced no crashes or freezes after installing
the new System file, so right now I have absolutely nothing to blame this
on. Does O.T. write something to a 68K System file that would make Tech
Tool "think" that it is damaged in any way? That's the only answer I can
come up with at the moment.

If anyone has any other thoughts on this, please email me. Thanks.

is it posible to FIND someone's email address and if so how?

Turn off the 'enable fast saves' in the preferences-it's a 'feature' that
causes these kinds of problems, as it appends the changed portions of your
file to the end of the original document each time you perform a save.

If you want a small efficient and fast program then try Default folder, its
shareware and while it does not have all the bells and whistles of the
commercial program Super Boomerang its a lot faster.

Can't help with the email address, but I did an altavista search on
"+groundhog +virus", and only came up with references to Michelangelo,
which is a PC-only virus. She was probably thinking of that one.

usenet.interramp.com is/was a free public news server. As InterRamp was
bought out by MindSpring, I don't know what happened to this server (MS
uses its own private server). But you can try at least.

>I'd prefer the uncensored stripe.

Unfortunately, IR's news server is shortened the contents of some of the
more questionable newsgroups, despite their (PSI's, the owner of InterRamp)
claim of "uncensored" access. The number is much fewer too: 17K compared
to MS's 26K.

>Censorship is the last thing we should support.

Shocked to hear that colleges are engaging in a censorship. I'm old enough
not to be able to use Internet in my college days. But it dosn't make
sense when college libraries have almost everything, including Playboy
stuff (in my state college at least). From discussing on the usenet, I get
the sesnse that more and more newsgroups will get moderated for the sake of
keeping out spams. But in effect, this will induce active censorship on
the part of administrators.

While I can't help Dave with the part he needs, we're experiencing a
similar problem with an Apple Color LaserWriter 16/600. A few weeks ago a
warning light came on to announce that the photoconducter cartridge was
wearing out. So, I dutifully called Apple supplies to order a new one
only to find out that it would be back-ordered until Feb. 21 (The initial
call was made in mid January.). At first we were told that it would be
shipped overnight (we paid extra), then when it didn't come in the next
day (or the next for that matter) we called and were told that whoever
told us it was in stock was wrong. It appears that Apple has two
problems: one, it can't keep stock on hand, and two, the right hand
doesn't know what the left is doing.

I agree with Dave: If Apple treats its friends this way, soon it won't
have any friends left. I have been an Apple evangelist in our school for
ten years. I've converted many. Lately, however, I've begun sounding like
a lone voice crying in the wilderness.

I don't know if you've tried this route, but you may want to try contacting
non-Apple service centers.

I went here:
<http://www.greenworld.com.au/lcart.html>
..and they report that the following printer models use the same toner
cartridge:

XPO CARTRIDGE
	Apple Laserwriter Select 360
	Panafax UF
	Pitney Bowes Fax 9700
	Star Micronics LS-5
	Xerox 4220 Series
	Xerox 4505

So, chances are extremely good that the underlying marking engine on all
these printers is very similar, if not identical in some cases.

Perhaps the fuser lamp from one or more of these would work in your 360.
