Subject: [*] Consultant 2.2
Consultant 2.2 is a full-featured PIM that integrates time, contact, and
communication management seamlessly in a multi-user package.
Consultant's ease of use is due mainly to a beautifully designed interface
that is unlike anything previously seen in a PIM. Users may choose from
multiple window textures such as "Wood", "Parchment" and "Shimmer."
Consultant provides three levels of on-line help to immediately answer any
questions a user might have: 1) A context sensitive help system called
RealHelp; 2) An on-line agent that offers hints called QuickTips; and 3) A
comprehensive on-line help system called Consultant Help.
Consultant offers more features than any other PIM available for the
Macintosh. It includes Day, Week, Multiday, Month, Year, List, Gantt,
Journal and Memo views. It's even smart enough to understand English
phrases. If the user types "Meet Heidi tomorrow at noon regarding the
proposal," Consultant will schedule the appointment and automatically link
Heidi's contact information. If there's a scheduling conflict, Consultant
will alert the user and suggest alternate times. Not only does it
understand English phrases, Consultant can even speak out loud, notifying
the user of important appointments.
Consultant is Internet-savvy. Users can launch their favorite e-mail
program or browser directly from Consultant. The times of all phone calls
and e-mail messages are automatically logged for future reference. In
office environments, Consultant allows multiple users to access a single
shared data file over a network; each user maintains their own
password-protected account.
Consultant sports a built-in word processor that can be used to generate
custom reports, mail-merges, envelopes, labels, fax cover sheets, address
books, etc. Consultant includes two system extensions that allow the user
to access their schedule and favorite contacts from the menu bar and
receive alarm notifications even when Consultant isn't running. Consultant
also comes standard with a companion program, MiniConsultant, whose simple,
one-window interface and smaller memory requirements allow the user to
quickly schedule appointments and access contacts.
Chronos believes users should have the opportunity to try the software for
free before they buy. Consultant and a 250-page reference manual are
available for electronic download from Chronos' website at
www.chronosnet.com. The software may be registered on-line for $39.95.
Chronos also offers Consultant on CD with a 90-page printed user manual for
$49.95.
Palm Pilot synchronization for Consultant is coming soon.

Subject: LaserWriter Paper Size defaults
(A copy of this message has also been posted to the following newsgroups:
comp.sys.mac.hardware, comp.sys.mac.system)
Anyone know how to get the laser writer paper size to STAY at US LETTER
instead of always defaulting to US LETTER SMALL? I tried the Apple Printer
Utility, but it just has settings for LETTER. No size variants.
Anyway of removing or defaulting the printer to the proper size? This is
extremely annoying and has caused me grief in the past. I had to print my
Tax return twice because of this. The SMALL size cuts off a bunch of text.
Once I figured out what the problem was, I fixed it. But it's extremly
annoying to have to try and remember to change this whenever I print.
Any help is appreciated.

Hi! I am running System 8.1 on a 7300 PowerMac, with netscape Communicator
4.05. I hve been
trying out the email system, Messenger, and have run into the following problem.
When I receive
a message, like info-mac, that contains quotations from received messages, those
quotations are
omitted. All I see is a blank space where the quotation should be and then the
reply.
So am I doing something wrong? Is there a box somewhere I should check? I hve
been through
the preferences but nothing seems to help.
Even mysteriouser - I can see those quotations if I click on the "Reply"
button. The Reply
window opens, and the email I received is duplicated in the Reply window,
TOGETHER WITH those
missing quotations!
Anyone have any suggestions on what I should do? Mike

there some way to measure the speed of the connection?
