Subject: [*] Bubbles
Bubbles is a simple logic game. Every turn five balls of eight different
kinds appear on the game field at random. Each turn you can move one ball
to any free position with one exception a ball can't jump over another
one.
Your task is to assemble five or more similar balls in a line in any
direction.
When you put the last ball in the line all balls in that line will
disappear
and you get a free turn.
System requirements:
* MacOs 7.5.3 or later
* PowerPC
* Color QuickDraw

Subject: [*] ColorBox
ColorBox is a program that assists the aesthetically challenged make
informed decisions about the colors they use on their web pages. It doesn't
guarantee a visually pleasing color scheme, but it does present you with
hundreds of options for non-dithering color combinations. How you use them
is up to you.
ColorBox uses a portion of the palette of 216 browser-safe colors to make a
traditional color wheel. These colors were selected as being close to the
proper color you would find in a color wheel with an unlimited palette to
choose from.
ColorBox uses this color wheel to calculate different color schemes based
on your choices. In brief, ColorBox will dynamically generate the following
basic color schemes:
*monochromatic
*complementary
*analogous
*split complementary
*clash
*neutral
Additionally, you can display a color scheme as primary, secondary, or
tertiary triad, depending on the base color selected.
ColorBox is freeware. It may be freely distributed, but not sold. ColorBox
may be included on the CD.

Subject: [*] DaemonCron Lite 1.0 - 20k cron daemon freeware!
This small daemon plays sounds, and will launch applications (including
AppleScript applets) on any schedule you set. Possible uses include
screaming clocks, counted quarter-hour chimes (e.g., three backward bongs
at :15 after, one backward bong at :45 after), nagging yourself (via
AppleScripts), launching Netscape at 3 A.M. to drive your cat nuts, whining
soulfully when someone else is using your computer, turning your house
lights on or off (requires wiring and additional stuff not provided), doing
things at startup or shutdown, listening to your ex's dead dog bark every
now and then, and so forth. Hey, it's daemonic! Use your imagination!
Those who already know what this is about will see other possibilities, of
course. One I find useful is the ability to launch apps in a particular
order at startup. The only thing in my Startup Items folder is DaemonCron
Lite.
DaemonCron is freeware for private use. Corporate, educational or
government users should buy the one-time, flat-rate, world-wide license for
US$15.
Requires System 7.5.5 or better. Requires ResEdit or Resorcerer for
configuration, and you should be comfortable with no-holds-barred system
spelling bees when you configure launchfile names. ;-)

java@dreadscott.com
The original "Guitar Tuner", a Java applet, became so popular that I
decided to write a Mac program so folks wouldn't have to connect to the
'Net with the browser of their choice just to use the Tuner.
Guitar Tuner uses a visual metaphor which mimics an handheld electronic
tuner, and plays the 6 notes of the guitar at standard tuning. The notes
were recorded into a PowerMac from a Martin acoustic tuned A=3D440 with a
quartz tuner. Because the notes are guitar pitches, rather than digitally
generated pitches, they may be easier to use since they share a common
tonality and timbre.
Instructions:
Click on the radio note below the note you wish to hear. Ain't that easy?
Enjoy! It's Freeware. This may be distributed on CDROM.

Subject: [*] HandyMan202
HandyMan is a Control/Desktop/Extensions Strip Launching Module.
It is designed to allow quick and easy access to applications, Control
Panels, Desk Accessories, Folders and other documents stored on your
Macintosh, without having to navigate through several "Finder Windows" or
through a multi-layered, hierarchical Apple menu.
It works by clicking on icons installed in a floating window, or dropping
documents onto them. This approach is much handier than aliases that are
on the desktop because the floating windows that contain the icons can
never be covered by windows. HandyMan also requires a lot less desktop
space than the same number of icons on the desktop.
For more information, please read the Read Me file enclosed, or visit
the Web page:
http://www.club.innet.be/~ind0836/mac/HandyMan.html
changes for 2.0.2:
* Small German localization fixes
* Norwegian localization fixed up by Fredrik Chr. Bolin
* Menu Items referring to a file now get the color of the Finder label of
that file. (Code example Ammon Skidmore)
* OK (and Cancel) would be disabled when, on 7.6 with Extensions Strip, a
notification pops up during a HandyMan alert (system blocks).
* Fixed small visual problem where failed drop didn't track back to the
original place. (Report from Ammon Skidmore)
* Sometimes when the module moved, due to the change in size of another
module, wrong info could be displayed.
* Made HandyMan much more stable in some less common situations (hey, it
was stable wasn't it?)
* Fixed crash when quiting an application with the command-q shortcut and
when popinfo balloon was visible.
* Locking Triangle Pict Before Drawing
* Menu's are now at ID 256 and 257, where all modules have their menu's.
This should fix incompatibilities with some applications (e.g. Freeway).
(report from Vanessa Gregory)
* Fixed crash when selecting 'Delete Icon' from contextual Menu. (Report
from Ammon Skidmore)

Subject: [*] Kineticon 1.1.3 - animated icons on your desktop!
Announcing the release of Kineticon 1.1.3!
Bring your Mac's motionless icons to life!
Kineticon is a system extension which replaces normal, static icons on your
Macintosh's desktop and in its windows with chosen animated icons.
Kineticon is fully configurable, allowing you to choose which icons should
animate simply by enabling them within Kineticon's editor.
Kineticon Editor (included in the Kineticon package) allows you to create
custom animations which can be made to appear in place of any icon
displayed by your Macintosh.
With Kineticon you will have THE COOLEST hard drive icon on your block!
With Kineticon you will have THE CUTEST trash can icon in your neighborhood!
And remember, if you don't like the included animations, you can easily
make your own!
Some of the changes in version 1.1.3 from version 1.0.2:
* Added drag and drop support to Kineticon Editor.
* Fixed a crashing bug which could occur when an "incompatible" screen was
connected.
* Fixed a crashing bug which could occur on 68030 Macs.
* Fixed a bug which could keep animation from occuring at all on some systems.
System requirements:
* Any Macintosh with at least a 68020 processor (both 68K and PowerPC Macs
are supported).
* System 7.1 or higher (may work on earlier systems above 7.0 - only tested
with systems 7.5 through 8.1).
* Color (doesn't work in grayscale or black and white, sorry).
* Free RAM: at least 300K. More RAM is needed depending on how many
animating icons are enabled.
* 2 MB of hard drive space (for the extension, editor and animating icon
files).
* Faster Macs (such as PowerMacs) are recommended.
Cost:
* All this for only $10 US!

Subject: [*] OSL Antibody 1.0
OSL Antibody will check your system (OS8 or better only) for the
presence of Object Support Library. If it finds the OSL, it will trash
it. Since OS8 rolled the functionality of OSL into the System, and many
installers also place the OSL into the extensions folder no matter what
version of system software you are running, this is a good way of
avoiding potential problems and getting rid of an unwanted file.
System requirements:
1. OS8 should be installed. If you are running any system version
lower than OS8, this script will throw out a dialog telling you that you
need to be running OS8, and then quit when you dismiss the dialog. If you
are not running OS8, you probably want to use Object Support Library,
anyway.
2. Applescript must be installed on your system. This is a standard
part of the MacOS these days, so it should be installed if you are
running any version of System 7.5 or higher.

Subject: [*] ServerBot 1.2r1
Welcome to Server Bot. This application is intended to help internet
based servers using Open Transport and OT/PPP to stay connected to the
internet. The Bot will watch the state of your PPP connection, and if it
finds that the connection is idle, it will quit the server, reconnect
PPP, and reboot the server. This application is intended to replace my
other server based Bot applications(WebStarBot, HotlineServerBot) with
one that will work with any kind of server application.
This Bot is a simple script application which stays open in the
background. It does this without a real interface of any kind. While the
Bot is running, if your PPP connection is idle (or dropped), it will
attempt to log on to your ISP. If you are connected, it will wait
patiently for 15, 30, or 60 seconds before checking again. It is designed
to act without any dialogs that require the user to be present, so if you
want to maintain an active PPP connection while you are away, or asleep,
or whatever...
This release is a simple bug fix. I have, hopefully, eliminated the
need to double tell the Bot where the server application is. Once should
be enough. Second, I have found the "can't set item name" problem and
eliminated that. I also changed the dialog text very slightly in two of
the dialogs. These were all minor problems, but they annoyed me greatly.
System requirements:
1. AppleScript must be installed on your system. This is a standard
part of the MacOS these days, so it should be installed if you are

standard install of AppleScript includes a set of osaxen (scripting
additions). I rely on the standard osaxen, and they must be installed on
your system.
2. You must be running OT/PPP, not FreePPP. In addition, you must
have the PPP Commands Osax installed in your scripting additions folder.
If you did a standard install of OT/PPP, then this scripting addition is
already installed for you.
3. You must have S=E4ndi's Additions installed. S=E4ndi's Additions is =

Subject: [*] Sleeper 3.0.2 - Sleep utility for all Macs
Sleeper is a control panel for desktop Macintoshes that spins down the hard
disk, dims the screen, and powers off Energy Star compliant monitors after
periods of inactivity. This reduces power consumption and quiets a Mac when
it is not in use. Sleeper can also password-protect the screen and shut
down a Mac if it has been idle for too long. Separate sleep times can be
set for all features, and a hotkey can be used to put the Macintosh to
sleep on demand.
Unlike Apple's Energy Saver control panel, Sleeper does not require that a
Macintosh have built-in power management capabilities, so Sleeper will
support any model from the MacPlus to the latest PowerMacs. By not relying
on Apple's Power Manager, Sleeper can also provide more options and more
precise control, and does not suffer from the unreliability some users
experience with Apple's Energy Saver control panel.
Sleeper requires only 50K of RAM to provide all its capabilities. These
features include:
- Hard disk sleep
- Energy Star monitor support
- Password screen locking
- A very frugal screen saver
- Timed shutdown
- Configurable hotkey options
- Support for the Sleep command in the Finder's Special menu
- Kaleidoscope and Mac OS 8.1 compatibility
- PowerMac-native support for both IDE and SCSI disks
- Support for multiple SCSI buses
- Full SCSI Manager 4.3 compliance
- Balloon help
Sleeper will operate on any Macintosh running System 7 or higher, including
Mac OS 8.1, and is accelerated for PowerPC. In addition to the standard
internet archives, information and updates are available at:
Sleeper may be included on the UMich and Info-Mac CD-ROMs.

viewed frame by frame. It can be usefull to musicians for tuning and viewing the
harmonic content of any instrument. Engineers and students who need a Spectrum

Here is the new version of the 'Verbs & Nouns' application - 1.9.7
'Verbs & Nouns' is an application for practising inflection, translation

opportunity to do inflection exercises, and translation exercises in

Virtue is my improvement of Apple Computer's "Charcoal" font appearing in
Mac OS 8.
About Virtue:
There is a lot of controversy about Charcoal, and honestly, I think that
most of it is unjustified. Basically, a lot of people did not want this
font to appear in the Mac OS 8. I think that this feeling is based on a
"reverse-engineered" font developed by Greg Landweber for his Aaron
extension and Kaleidoscope control panel. Greg built his font from
looking at various screenshots and did a good job at making a very
complete font. However, the spacing information and special characters
characters seemed a little off to me. It seems that Apple couldn't decide
whether Charcoal should have two pixels between the letters or just one.
This leads to a cramped appearance on screen.
So here's what I did: basically, I took his work and tried to space it
how I would if I was making Apple's next font. I studied the "Chicago"
system font and and used it as a template for my font. After about 2
hours of tinkering, I had a bitmap font that looked really good as a
replacement font for Kaleidoscope. About a week later, after tinkering
some more, I made even more improvements.
And then I decided to create a regular weight of Virtue to go along with
it. I tried to carry the unique features of Virtue into Virtue Light.
It's currently just a 12 point bitmap font, but I thought that it might
be useful for those of us who have smaller screens or are just tired of
looking at bold fonts all day. I'd love to hear any comments you may have
about Virtue-Light.

About v6.0
This file contains 4 maps I create for Warcraft II=A9, Mac version (is there
something else?). To play them, you need the "Warcraft II" game, created by
Blizzard Entertainment=A9. System requirements are the ones the game needs.
These maps are freeware, so you can use and abuse them all you want, you
can give
them to your friends, put them on any commercially available CD-ROM, or you =
can
trash them. But, if you like some of them, send me an email telling me so.
I will
be glad to receive it.
And I will be glad, too, if you do something good for our Apple or Mac
(evangelize a Wintel user, buy another Mac, pay for the shareware, etc.).
These Maps were checked with Disinfectant 1.7 and Virex 5.8.1.
