Subject: [*] BladePro 2.0.9 - Metallic reflections filter
Version 2.0.9 is a maintenance release which improves stability; allows
the =93environments and textures=94 folder to move; and includes a utility
which translates BladePro presets to work on both Macintosh and Windows.
* * *
BladePro, the Photoshop filter that combines textures with bevels and
mirrorlike reflections, now has amazing new features.
BladePro puts you in control of lighting and surfaces, and offers a wide
selection of edge styles. Produce reflections with the included
environment maps (gold, chrome, outdoor scenes) or make your own.
You can make glassy objects with prismatic catchlights, tarnish
any surface, pour on iridescent oil-slick colors, and customize your
textures. Over 100 presets get you started right away with all the
possibilities.
Quickly create appealingly 'touchable' 3-D appearances like slippery ice
or weathered copper, as well as eye-catching text, buttons, and special
effects.
BladePro is shareware for Macintosh, and requires a paint program and
QuickTime. You can check for updates at
http://ccn.cs.dal.ca/~aa731/blade.html .

Subject: [*] Cameraid_101
Announcing Cameraid 1.0.1 for Macintosh
Cameraid is a compact, yet very powerful shareware program for managing
and organizing digital photos and scans.
It can download and erase pictures from Agfa, Olympus, Epson and Sanyo
digital cameras and it is often up to 70% faster than bundled software -
sometimes even faster. File creation dates can be set to the time when
the picture was really taken.
Downloads operate smoothly as background tasks, taking a minimum
amount of processor cycles. Other work can progress normally while a
download is active. Each picture can be viewed and edited as soon as
it has arrived. These features combined with the fast downloads offer
significant time savings to digital camera users.
Cameraid is useful even if you don't have a digital camera or prefer
not use the serial port for downloads.
Pictures can be rated using a simple "thumbs up", "thumbs down" grading
system. Selected files can be dragged to other applications or simply
moved or copied to a new location. Best of all, files are easily renamed
within Cameraid, so there's no need to pop back into the Finder to rename
a document.
Cameraid is shareware US$15 (payments through Kagi). The unregistered
version is fully functional, but shows a registration notice at startup.
Cameraid requires Quicktime, ColorQuickdraw and System 7 or later, and
is compatible with the latest system software, including System 8.1.
Testing indicates that it works on G3-series PowerMacs.
Version 1.0.1 fixes a bug that prevented picture files larger than 512KB to
be downloaded.
Cameraid is available now from

Subject: [*] Color Picker Pro 2.0.3
Color Picker Pro is a small application that aids in finding color hex
values for use with HTML production. Color Picker Pro is more than just a
RGB to hex converter however! It can literally pull colors out of windows,
icons and Desktop backgrounds. If you can't find a color that you're
interested in using the former method, you can just as easily utilize any
of your System-level color pickers a la the Color Picker Pro application.
Once you've found the color you want, you're only a click, menu choice or
key combination away from pasting your hex value into any text-based HTML
editor. Color Picker Pro will also allow you to store frequently used
colors, undo and redo color changes as well as finding the nearest Netscape
216 Palette color.
System requirements:
* System 7.5
* Power Macintosh
* 16 or 32 bit color preferred

MacUser Utility of the Year 1996 and America Online's Mac Utility 1996
Shareware Award Winner and Shareware Junkies Mac Program of the Year 1997

**Full Drag & Drop compatibility!
**Use up to 100 independent clipboards by menu or simple key commands!
**View and access all the clipboard using the CopyPaste Palette!
**Append text to 1 of 10 files on disk at any time!
**Process text, picture and net data on the Clipboards in many ways!
**Use a command key to switch and/or view all applications!
**New pop-up palette function and more!
One of the early wonders of the Mac was its revolutionary ability to do
copy and paste across various applications. Unlike other areas in the
Mac's
system software that have changed and progressed over the years, copying
and pasting has not evolved. How many times have you found yourself going
back and forth copying in one application and pasting in a different
application, wishing to yourself that you could copy 5-10 items at a
time,
then go to another application and paste each of these items. Now you can
with a vengeance!
NEW FEATURES
Changes In Version 4.2.1
* bug fixes:
- those who use the Dvorak keyboard layout can now use CopyPaste
- Renaming Archives and Clip Sets now save
- other minor bug fixes
* the "Use Popup Palette" feature can be toggled on and off by
option-click on the zoom box of the Palette.
Changes In Version 4.2
* A new option in the preferences "Use Popup Palette" when turned ON
allows the Palette to collapse automatically to icon size when the mouse
is not over it, and expand to normal size simply by pointing to the
CopyPaste icon. This is a very handy way to have the Palette available
all the time.
* The Palette is now resizable.
* ClipViewer, ClipExtender and small zoomed Palette can now each have
their individual size and position which is remembered thru restarts. So
you can view the clip in a large window which is centered on the screen
without repositioning the Palette in its ClipExtender state.
* Clips can be trashed in the Clip Viewer mode.
* A new color screenshot utility can be found in the picture utilities
menu.
* A new utility to rotate a text string can be found in the picture
utilities menu.
* A new Internet utility which converts styled Text to HTML is added for

The digest is a collection of article threads from the internet
newsgroups comp.sys.mac.programmer.help, csmp.tools, csmp.misc and

want an archive of the discussions. If you don't know what a

administrator(s) for details. If you don't have access to news, you
may still be able to post messages to the group by using a mail server
like anon.penet.fi (mail help@anon.penet.fi for more information).
Each issue of the digest contains one or more sets of articles (called
threads), with each set corresponding to a 'discussion' of a particular
subject. The articles are not edited; all articles included in this digest
are in their original posted form (as received by our news server at
ee.mcgill.ca). Article threads are not added to the digest until the last

Subject: [*] FrameBlenderQT
FrameBlenderQT is a QuickTime Movie Export component. With FrameBlenderQT
installed on your Mac you can use Apple MoviePlayer to export a single
PICT generated by blending together every frame of a QuickTime movie.
This is useful for combining several noisy frames of the same scene into
one crisp clean snapshot. Since the noise is different in every frame,
blending many frames together acts to cancel out the noise.Anyone who
uses a video camera to grab stills can benefit from this.
Alternative uses include simulating a time exposure by blending the
frames of a time lapse movie and creating motion blur effects by blending
frames with movement.
This is version 1.0b3, the third public beta. This version requires a
Macintosh with Apple's QuickTime software. It works with MoviePlayer 2.5
and MoviePlayer 3.0 Pro. This version improves memory handling, supports
longer movies, and more gracefully handles unsupported movies (like
audio-only movies).

Subject: [*] SpriteWorld 2.1
SpriteWorld 2.1 is the latest update to the widely respected SpriteWorld
animation library originally written by Tony Myles in 1993-94, and updated to
version 2.0 by Karl Bunker and Vern Jensen in 1996. SpriteWorld 2.1 is a
major update to that release, and provides numerous improvements, including
an impressive list of new features and some bug fixes. Several cool new demos
are also included in the package.
SpriteWorld is a free animation package for programmers that allows you to
easily add sprite-based animation to your program. SpriteWorld was designed
with game programmers in mind, and has many features that are very useful for
making games, such as smooth overlapping of sprites, custom blitters to speed
up the animation, pixel-precise collision detection, the ability to create an
unlimited number of sprites of any size, a fast scrolling engine, and much
more. SpriteWorld comes with complete source code, so you can modify it if
necessary to suit your needs.
Here are just some of the improvements in SpriteWorld 2.1:
* Numerous bug fixes.
* Various speed improvements.
* A wide variety of new or improved blitters, customized for various uses and
situations. These include blitters for all bit depths for 68K and PPC
compiles, 68K and PPC blitters optimized for 8 bit color, and blitters for
real-time scaling, rotating, translucency, and lighting effects.
* A new double-rect blitter which eliminates the ugly "seams" from scrolling
animations, in addition to making them go faster on most PowerMacs.
* Functions that allow you to move and resize your window, while still being
able to use direct-to-screen blitters.
* Two new callback functions allow you to draw in the offscreen areas during
the animation after the sprites were erased, and after they have been drawn,
but before the screen is updated.
* Functions for determining whether a sprite has run into a tile or "set" of
tiles.
* The ability to set "hot spots", used to calculate the location of each
Frame of a Sprite.
* Split-screen scrolling routines allowing two or more viewpoints of the same
game field.
* Several great new demos, such as:
- Shark Attack, an example of a real game that uses SpriteWorld.
- Split Screen Scrolling demo, which demonstrates the split screen
scrolling routines.
- Platform Scrolling, a basic platform type game.
- Maze Game - move the ball around the maze.
- Various demos that make use of the rotating, scaling, translucency, and
lighting capabilities.
* SpriteWorld is now completely compatible with the latest version of
CodeWarrior Pro and the Universal Headers, while still remaining compatible
with Think C 6.0 and earlier versions of CodeWarrior.
* Lots of new tips in the SpriteWorld Tips and Tricks file.
