After a mysterious boating accident, you find yourself stranded on a small
tropical island. Life isn't so bad here: there's food, wood, and gold for
the taking, so why leave? Well, even paradise has its dark moments, and
this particular paradise is about to be wiped off the map by a hurricane.
Your newfound life of leisure has turned into a lesson in bare survival.
Avoid starving to death, chop wood, build a boat, and get off that sand
pile. Before you leave, you might even have enough time to line your
pockets with the gold that still litters the island.
Requires:
System 7.0 or later
68020 or faster
256 colours/greys
Version 1.2 includes a fix so that resizing the main window on large
screens works properly, and some minor changes to graphics.

If you have two or more Macintoshes, you probably notice that the clocks
drift apart as time goes by. This can range from being a minor nuisance to
a problem, especially if you do a lot of synchronizing between the
Macintoshes. ClockSync II synchronizes the clocks between two or more
Macintoshes, by setting the clocks of the "Servant"Macintoshes to that of a
"Master" Macintosh.
ClockSync has two components. The ClockSync Master runs continuously on
the "Master" Macintosh, while the ClockSync Servant can be run on any other
Macintosh on the network to update its time.
All of my utilities can be registered through the Kagi shareware system.
Version 1.2.1 has the following enhancements:
- Enhanced network error handling of Servant.

Subject: [*] CronoTask 1.0.6 68k
This program allows to specify an unlimited number of programs to launch
when your Mac server is unattended, with a very easy and fast to use
interface.
All the tasks to launch are listed in a table, with a double click on a row
you can define in details how many times and when to launch the referred
task (program, document, applet) selecting it from the HD, and using for
the schedule a daily, weekly, monthly and even yearly plan.
Using Crono Task you can assign the tasks your Mac can perform for a whole
year.
Interface of Crono Task is simply amazing.
It was realized taking full advantage of the new elements of apparence
Manager available under System 8 (works also under Sys 7 using the new
appearance control panel and extension).
Using Crono Task is absolutely easy and fast, in few minutes you can setup
your server automatic tasks.
No code to digit or cripting language and code to learn (and forget), Crono
Task uses Mac controls to specify parameters (it's not a unix porting, it's
a true _Macintosh_ program)
When you look at a panel to specify a task you don't need to read manuals !
CronoTask is really a 'control station' for your Mac, using it you can
automatize and run any task during the night, when your Mac is unattended
without having to stop services during the day.
This is the 68k version.

Mac OS 8.0 and higher has the ObjectSupportLib function built in. So the

Delete Web Caches is a AppleScript text program that deletes a variety of
cache and other files from your hard disk. Cache files from using web
browsers can eat up a lot of hard drive free space in a very short time.
This update adds several improvements: It adds a routine to delete AOL
caches and it includes dialog boxes asking if you want to delete all web
caches and then if you want to empty the trash. The file is in text so
that you can change it until your heart's content. I've compiled it as a
run-only application and put it in my Apple Menu Items folder, and I use it
after every session on the web.

Subject: [*] KnowledgeMIner 2.2.2
KnowledgeMiner 2.2.2 is the Revolutionary Modeling and
Prediction Tool for Macintosh Computers
This new version fixes a bug which can occur with large
data sets.
Version 2.2.2 will also be the last that supports 68k
based Macs. Future features, developments and enhancements
will be available for PowerPC based Macs only. KnowledgeMiner
is computational intensive software already. Now that we
are starting to add new even more demanding features it
has become obvious that its time to move on and focus
exclusively on the faster PowerPC processors.
KnowledgeMiner is a powerful, easy-to-use modeling and
prediction tool which was designed to support the knowledge
extraction process from data in a highly automated way. It
works using two advanced self-organizing modeling
technologies: Group Method of Data Handling (GMDH) and
Analog Complexing. This is the first time that both of these
algorithms have been available on any computer platform.
Built on the cybernetic principles of self-organization,
KnowledgeMiner brings high-end modeling capabilities to your
desktop without the need for an expert. It can learn completely
unknown relationships between the outputs and inputs of a given
system in an evolutionary way from a very simple organization
to an optimally complex one by itself.
KnowledgeMiner has been used successfully for analysis and
prediction in the fields of finance, economics, imaging,
ecology, health, biotechnology, chemistry, math and many
others. Professionals in many areas can benefit by downloading
and trying out the examples then using this tool to mine their
own field for new relationships.
In comparison with statistical modeling tools and neural
networks KnowledgeMiner stands out as easier, faster and more
applicable to a wide range of real-world problems since it
creates the model structure or network topology automatically
without predefinition. This makes KnowledgeMiner the least
expensive and most effective modeling and prediction tool
available on any platform.

Subject: [*] Matrix maker 3.0.1
This StuffIt archive contains the newest version of "Matrix maker", a
Macintosh application designed for the easy creation and formatting of
twelve-tone matrices (12 x 12 arrays) used in the composition and/or
analysis of twelve-tone music. It will also allow the creation and
formatting of 7 x 7, 6 x 6, and 5 x 5 matrices (or, for that matter, of any
dimension from 2 x 2 through 12 x 12). Unlike version v 2.7, which was
designed for use with Microsoft Word 6.0.x for the Macintosh, versions 3.0
and 3.0.1 are stand-alone versions that require no additional
word-processing software. Any number of matrices can be created without
exiting and re initializing the application; this is particularly
advantageous if the program is being used in a networked environment.
Extensive documentation in HTML format can be viewed by utilizing any of
the current Macintosh browsers. The file used to open the documentation is
by default a Netscape HTML document, but in fact it can be used in
conjunction with other browsers, such as Cyberdog, the authors' preferred
browser, as long as the browser is properly configured (Internet Config is
particularly useful for this purpose). "Matrix maker 3.0.1" will run on
both 68K and PowerPC machines. Version 3.0.1 is a minor bug fix that
corrects erroneous information that sometimes appears in one of the strings
printed above the matrix.
This application, written by John Melby and Charles Melby-Thompson, is
shareware. It may be distributed on CD-ROM releases as long as it is
included unchanged and in its entirety.
This file has been checked by Virex 5.8.1 and found to be virus-free.

Rock Solid v2.3
by Richard White
Diamonds. One of the most valuable minerals on earth. As an executive
of the D.E.C (Diamond Excavation Corporation) it's your job to know
everything there is to know about diamonds.
With cost overruns reaching record highs the D.E.C is anxious to cut
back its operating budget. You have been assigned to the diamond
excavation division to oversee the mining of 60 new potential diamond
sites. These sites are scattered around the world in some of the most
inhospitable places known to man. From freezing arctic ice caverns to
scorching desert terrain to dirt tunnels deep in the Amazon, it's your
job to ensure these sites are fully mined of their diamonds. For each
site you will be given a limited budget to construct drilling
equipment, conveyer belts, power supplies and support scaffolding.
Good Luck.
Rock Solid requires a 68020 Macintosh or higher (LCIII or higher
recommended), 2 Mb of free RAM, and a minimum 13 inch 256 colour
monitor. System 7 is also required.

This archive contains TCPSerial 1.0.1 which is an extension that
creates serial ports and simulated modems using the Internet. This
allows you to connect to the Internet using programs which only know
how to talk to serial ports. TCPSerial does not make any use of the
real serial ports on the machine. In particular it does not let you
make an Internet connection via real serial ports. It does the
opposite: it lets you make serial port connections via the Internet
(however you are connected to the Internet).
This is not a new version, it is being resubmitted since it seems to
have been purged from the archive and I've gotten requests for it. If
you downloaded it before, there is no need to download it again.

Just a curiosity. After a recent crash I looked in my trash seeing that it
was full and in it was this file:
name: '!@#'
creator: 'trsh'
type: 'trsh'
When opening the file with resedit, resedit reports an error that there
isn't a resource fork. Attempting to opening the file with HexDump (a
small utility that will show the resource and data forks of a file in hex
form) has the file greyed out in the open dialog, although strangely
enough SFPgetfile for HexDump is supposed to accept ALL file types.
I assume that the creator is trash and its type is trash, but why does the
trash create this file and what is its purpose??

Subject: [Q] Dead 6100/60?
Hello all!
I have a hardware(?) question regarding a PM 6100/60. For the last couple
of months I have been having to start up with [cmd-opt-shift-del]
(occasionally having to turn the power on/off 2x times until this
keyboard combo worked) & dealing with the incorrect time/date. Well- last
week I put a CD into the drive to finally update my copy of WordPerfect
and couldn't get the CD to mount. I turned off the computer and then
tried to power back on, but the green power light only flickers. No HD
sounds, no startup chime. The light even flickers a bit after the power
button is moved to off.... New clock battery from RadioShack didn't help.
Any thoughts as to my problem? Would the cost of repair make sense (250
meg HD, 2or 4x CD (stock)?)
Any help or suggestions welcome!

Subject: LC II & 32-bit addressing
I would like to revise some conventional wisdom that is recorded in the FAQ
(comp.sys.mac.faq, part 2: comp.sys.mac.system). (At least it was there
the last time I looked.)
> Under system versions earlier than 7.0 or under System 7.x

> eight megabytes of real memory. If you have more physical RAM

> When About this Macintosh (About the Finder in System 6) is selected
> from the Apple menu, the system reports all the memory it can't use
> as part of the system memory allocation.
> If you have an LC or an LC II with four megabytes of RAM
> soldered to the motherboard, you still need to add two four-megabyte
> SIMM's to reach the ten megabyte maximum imposed by the LC ROM.
> This means you'll always have two unused megabytes which About this
> Macintosh and About the Finder report as part of the system memory
> allocation. Unfortunately there is no current means of accessing
> this extra memory.
I have an LC II with 12MB installed, and 10MB usable. But, contrary to the
information in the FAQ, I can access and use all 10MB (not merely 8MB),
regardless of whether 32-bit addressing is ON or OFF. The "invisible" 2MB
do not appear as part of the System allocation in About This Macintosh
(contrary to the conventional wisdom); rather, they do not appear at all.
I do not understand how I can access more than 8MB with 32-bit addressing
turned OFF. All I know is that I can, and it works. I verified it by
loading up applications whose total memory added up to nearly 10MB.
Any explanations?

I have a Power 100 Mac clone which is essentially a copy of the Mac 8100/100

be a trick to installing this card in the Power 100 as the motherboard has a

Anyone know how I can work around this? Any advice will be much appreciated.

Subject: Power Macintosh Upgrade Card and Centris 650
I have a Centris 650 (25Mhz 68040, 48 Mb RAM) with a Power Macintosh
Upgrade Card (50 MHz PPC601) in the PDS. When I install system S-7.1.2
(Swedish version) that came with the card, everything works fine. I can
boot with either the 68040 or the PPC601. But when I install system S-7.5
(also Swedish verion) there is major problem. The installer recognize the
Upgrade Card and installs the specific files in the system folder that is
needed, and I can then boot the computer from the 68040. But if I choose to
boot from the PPC601, I get the "Welcome to Power Macintosh"-message and 2
seconds later a message saying "Unimplemented trap - Try restart the
computer without extension". Starting without extension doesn't help and
the only way to get the computer going is to remove the Upgrade Card from
the PDS.
Anyone else had this problem? Is this a known bug and, if so, is there a
software solution? Sure it must be possible to use the Power Macintosh
Upgrade Card with system newer than 7.1, or...?
