Subject: [*] "Andrew's Disk Copy Scripts 2.1" dcscripts-21.hqx
Announcing the public release of Andrew's Disk Copy Scripts 2.1
These scripts provide access the hidden features of Apple's Disk Copy disk
image utility.
Although there are other scripts with similar capabilities; I know that
you'll find mine to be more robust and much nicer to use. They were simply
out there first and they have a well established following.
SegmentSMIer can instruct Disk Copy to :
segment images into your chosen number of parts;
segment images into 1.4 MB floppy disk sized parts, for floppy archiving an
image;
make a NDIF disk image or first segment into a self-mounting image or 'SMI'.
DropMakeSMI will instruct Disk Copy to create a self-mounting image of any
NDIF image dropped onto it on the desktop of your startup disk. Not as
flexible as SegmentSMIer, but speedier and just as robust.
ImageCheck will induce Disk Copy to run a special internal check sequence
on any disk image dropped onto it and inform you if it found a problem.
Floppy Archiver allows you to have a compressed NDIF image to be made
instantaneously on the desktop of your startup disk from the 1.4 MB floppy
disk you just dragged onto it. Speeds up archiving of floppy disks to some
other media.
What's new in 2.1 :
The inclusion of two news droplets: DropMakeSMI and ImageCheck;
You can now tip me through the reputable Kagi Payment Service;
More technical tweaking;
New viewable scripts also now available;
Much revised PDF Read Me.
What was new in v2.0 :
New easy-to-use button-oriented interface;
Data entry verification (you can only choose to make between 2 and 128
segments);
Ability to make images Self-Mounting, i.e. images independent of Disk Copy;
SegmentSMIer combines the functionality of Segmenter 1.5.x and Image
Floppier 1.5.x;
Ability to choose where you want the output files to go;
Correct handling of all cancellations;
With Disk Copy 6.3, dialogs use Navigation Services where available;
Further technical tweaking and compatible with Mac OS 8.5;

Subject: [*] AutoRename 1.0. A useful utility
AutoRename 1.0
What is this?
This is a simple utility to rename full folders in one click. It
allows you to create a Base name to each file and then apply a number
after the base name. It works great for preping image files for the
web, or htmls for a website. Many uses can be gained. Stay tuned for
the latest updates.
Please use this utility with caution, as for there is no "undo" for
this utility. Once you have renamed a folders contents, it is not
undoable, sorry. Later versions will include: undo's, ability to add
just file extentions, plug-ins and much more. If you have any
suggestions for me please contact me: alphamix@hotmail.com I would
love to hear some ideas. Report any bugs to me also.
How to use AutoRename 1.0
To rename an entire folder of files (not including enclosed files),
just click the Select Folder button on the main screen. After selecting
a folder, type in a "base name", select a file extention if you wish to
"force" one, and click "Begin"
There is online help by clicking on the question mark icon in the
upper right hand corner of the window. Click the Help button in the
dialog box, and then click the mouse over an item which you require help
on. Later versions will include a troubleshooting, however because of
the basicness of this utility, troubleshooting would have been somewhat
unnecessary.
Disclaimer=D6
AutoRename 1.0 has been tested on a G3 PowerMacintosh (PM770) and
runs great. Any errors or problems that may occur are not the
responsibility of the programmer, nor shal any compensation be given in
the event of any errors. Please use this file and any included files
only how they were intended to be used, do not change any included files
without permission of the authors. Thank you for using my software.

Subject: [*] Bartender V1.31
Bartender V1.31 - free dist. rights
Bartender was originally written for a Pippin developer who wanted the
menu bar to be invisible while starting his CD. Bartender can (now) do
these things:
1. Prevent the menu-bar from ever being drawn.
2. Prevent the menu-bar area from being usable.
3. Let the menu-bar come & go depending on mouse/keys.
4. Prevent anything from being dragged.
5. Disable extraneous monitors on (non-sensing) video cards.
Bartender patches no traps and is CD-ROM ready.

CDFinder 2.1.1
CDFinder catalogs CD-ROMs, ZIPs, floppies, SyQuests, and everything else that
turns (even your file server..) and allows you to search for anything in those
catalog files.
It is very fast, supports drag&drop, is PowerPC native (but also fast on any
other Mac with at least a 68020 CPU), and is multi-lingual
(English/German/French/Italian/Swedish).
CDFinder is shareware (15 US$ for a single user license,
multi-user licenses are available).
New features in CDFinder 2.1.1:
- Support for the new Navigation Services! If you press the "Alt" key, you will
have the old dialogs.
- CDFinder now keeps the location of your catalog folder in an alias. The big
advantage is a better reliability and the fact that CDFinder can now mount any
server volume for you that contains your catalog folder!
- The CDFinder cache is now much more effective, causing a much faster launch
for all of you folks with multi-user licenses!
- Support for the control panel "SmartScroll" with proportional scroll bars.
- Balloon help for menus (English, Italian, and German only).
- Faster display routines for list displays.
- The "Find" dialog now uses other text input routines.
- To communicate with the Finder , CDFinder no longer uses AppleScript, but
direct Apple Events.
- The contents of the "Help" window can now be printed.
- Some CDFinder windows now deactivate their control items when in background.
- The "New Catalog Folder" dialog now defaults to a more intelligent name.
- Many Thanks to Erik Ekengren for the Swedish translation!!
- Many Thanks to John Zetlaoui for an improved French translation!
- If CDFinder cannot find your catalog folder at launch, it will now bring up a
dialog explaining that and let you choose a new folder or show CDFinder the new
location of your folder.
- A real lot of minor and even some major bugs have been fixed!
Please give it a try!

Subject: [*] eMerge 1.5.3 -- Powerful bulk email merge for the Macintosh
eMerge is a simple desktop application from Galleon Software that lets
you personalize form letters and send them to people on the Internet.
You can use our built-in tools to create lists of names and e-mail
addresses, or import all the information you need from your existing databas=
es.
Websites use eMerge to follow up with the visitors who sign their
guest book, download a file, or request information.
Online Businesses use eMerge to bill their customers, remind them of
special offers, and search for new business.
Consultants use eMerge to work their network, keep in touch with their
clients, and make new contacts.
Doctors use eMerge to remind their patients of upcoming appointments
and to recall their patients once a year.
Teachers use eMerge to send grades, announcements, and special
assignments to their students.
This demo allows you to use all the features of the full version of
eMerge, except that you can only send ten messages in any one session;
and although you can dredge your entire hard drive for addresses, you
can only save the first ten people on your list. Even with these
limitations, don=92t be surprised if you find the demo useful right away.

Subject: [*] Extensions Strip 1.8
Extensions Strip hosts control strip modules in the most flexible
environment out
there. Its theme is "extensions with a global interface" because of the extra
power it gives to modules, especially the Extensions Strip savvy ones. Included
in the package are two useful modules, a few icon themes, and developer stuff
----- 1.8 Short Summary: Icon themes, miniature modules, and extra compatability
with G3s and System 8.5.
-----
1.8 Longer Summary:
- Icon Themes! Each strip can now have its own custom icons.
- Miniature modules option for each strip. This will shrink all modules to
the size of a small icon. Tip: This feature is great for vertical strips.
- No need for the TSM Fix extension! This improves compatibility (it
conflicted with Real Player and Ray Dream Studio 5). Another bonus is that
translucent dragging is now possible (as long as your System software
supports it).
- Maintains an internal list of "naughty" modules not to close. This
prevents Extensions Strip from crashing when quit. If you know of a module
that still crashes when ES is quit, please let me know so I can add it to
the list. NB: many of Apple's modules before System 8.5 would cause random
crashes on G3 Macs after they were asked to close. Extensions Strip 1.8
works around this problem. Evidently, Apple discovered this and fixed it
for System 8.5
- Limited support for System 8.5's PPC modules.
- Any module that causes Extensions Strip to crash is now reported to the user.

Language Toolkit Reader is an interactive multimedia program for language
learning. It features the integrated use of text, illustrations, sound,
QuickTime Movies, vocabulary, exercises based on text and sound, and notes on
grammar. You use the program to access 'lessons' which are prepared
separately.
A teacher can prepare multimedia lessons for any target language by using the
companion program 'Language Toolkit Writer'. An associated program 'Verbs &
Nouns' gives access to additional support in the way of dictionaries, and
offers the opportunity for further practice of inflection and translation at

Mac Seat'em - is a most versatile and fun to use seating charts maker! It will
accommodate 100 seats and students. You make your seating charts in any
arrangement you choose. The print-outs are magnificent. You choose the fonts and
sizes and how you want the names to appear on your charts. You may include
squares for attendance and tardies. Mac Drill is a super-fun, high tech review
game that will randomly call upon the kids by displaying their names in LARGE
FONT on the computer screen. Review lists may be entered into the computer in
advance. The computer will then display a question and then call upon a student
to answer it. Roster Master allows you to create class lists for both Mac
Seat'em

Subject: [*] PageMark 1.0.2: Scrollbar extension shows page end
PageMark is a Macintosh extension which flashes a bar in the window area to
mark the end of the previous page when you've used a scrollbar to scroll
down a page and reached the end of a document.
When you reach the end of a document, often the page has scrolled up just a
few lines rather than a whole page... and you have to scan back over a page
you've already read to find the new lines at the end.
With PageMark, you won't waste time figuring out where you are, since the
flashing indicator shows you exactly where the previous page ended.
PageMark is especially useful when you're scanning web pages or reading
notes in email or newsgroups.
PageMark can also be configured to flash the marker when scrolling reaches
the top of a document, or the left or right margin, with different settings
for different applications. PageMark works with almost all Macintosh
windows which have scrollbars, including Netscape and Internet Explorer
windows (the only significant exception appears to be Finder windows under
MacOS 8).
PageMark requires Macintosh System 7.0 or later. The PageMark Extension is
packaged in a Control Panel.
PageMark is $5 shareware. You can test PageMark for 30 days without
registering; after 30 days the PageMark Extension is disabled. (PageMark
is Copyright =A91998 Kevin Eric Saunders a/k/a bonze blayk, All Rights

PageMark can be downloaded from the HyperArchive and other Macintosh
shareware distribution servers.

Subject: [*] PingReporter 1.31
PingReporter v1.31
This is a little application started out as a quick hack to save myself a
lot of hassle when it came
time to sift through the large log files, created by ICMP Logger during a
ping attack, pulling IP
numbers and other data out and to organize it in a neat and legible sort of
way before sending it
off to my local ISP. It has now become a useful MacOS application.
It is not fancy and has no bells or whistles in any way. But it's FAST.
It is to be used in conjunction with ICMP Logger v1.0. It was unknown, at
the time of this
writing, if there was a newer version that creates a differently formatted
log file, which basically
means that this is to be used ONLY on log files created by the
aforementioned program.
ICMP Logger, when used, creates a text file with the following format which
can grow to
megabyte proportions. If you are familiar with this kind of situation then
you can understand
the difficulty in reading through the file to find needed info.
A quick break down of what PingReporter does:
* Extracts IP numbers from the log files.
* Counts the number of pings received from a particular IP.
* Shows you when that IP started and stopped sending the pings.
* Shows you the size of the pings and if they changed size.
* Calculates the total number of bytes received from those pings.
* Organizes all this data in a neat manner so that it can easily be passed
on to others without much hassle

Subject: [*] Shift Key Suite v1.0
Marc Mennigmann releases the "Shift Key Suite" v1.0
Iserlohn, Germany -- July 26, 1998 -- Marc Mennigmann today announced the
initial release of the "Shift Key Suite", a powerful collection of
applications to extend the functionality of password protection systems
for Macintosh computers.
Why Do I Want To Disable The Shift Key?
=======================================
Holding down the Shift key when launching your Macintosh will prevent all
extensions to load at start-up. This is an interesting feature when you
have start-up crashes from incompatible extensions and controlpanels.
However, if your system is running smooth, you may want to protect your
computer with a password protection or a similar application/extension.
Most password protections for the Mac are extensions or controlpanels.
Therefore you can simply bypass them when holding down the Shift key at
start-up.
This is where the "SKS" comes in. It gives you the option to disable the
Shift key only for the start-up time. After your Mac booted, the Shift
key works as it always worked when you worked with your Mac.
The "Shift Key Suite" is US$5 shareware. It is available from Marc
Mennigmann's web site and all major
Macintosh shareware archives and ftp sites. The "Shift Key Suite" is free
for all registered users of the Macintosh password protection THE BLOCK.
System Requirements: Any Apple Macintosh or clone running MacOS System
7.0 or later.

problems
- Letting you know if a computer is being improperly shutdown
- Finding out if someone has been using a computer when they weren't

Here is the new version of the 'Verbs & Nouns' application - 2.0.5
'Verbs & Nouns' is an application for practising inflection, translation
and pronunciation at the level of single words. Features include the
opportunity to do inflection exercises, and translation exercises in
both directions; to record and play sound for single words; and to do
exercises based on sound or pictures.
The program keeps a record of exercises, and identifies the words that
the student has difficulty with. Along with the program, you need a
module for the target language concerned. The program can also be used
as an authoring tool to write your own modules of inflected words for
any language. A built-in 'inflection-generator' simplifies the addition
of these words. A 'Find' feature allows the modules to be used as
bilingual dictionaries.
Ready-made modules are already available for certain languages. You can

This is the Japanese version of the Web Confidential package.
Macintosh password and personal data organizer for the Internet with strong
cryptography.
Web Confidential is an intuitive, easy-to-use program for managing user IDs,
passwords, registration numbers, and the like. Thanks to the use of a number
of advanced features of the Mac operating system, Web Confidential can be
used in close conjunction with popular Mac Internet software, such as
Netscape Navigator, Explorer and Eudora.
While Web Confidential is suitable for a wide variety of personal data, from
creditcard numbers to serial numbers, Alco Blom designed Web Confidential
particularly for the World Wide Web in mind. "Increasing numbers of Web
sites maintain some form of user registration," points out Blom. "You may
not realize it, but in the course of time you may registered at a couple of
dozen sites. Do you remember the passwords you entered for all of them?"
Web Confidential allows Web surfers to store URLs, user IDs, and passwords
in one secure location. Web Confidential can automate the process of logging
into a password-secured Web page by automatically passing URL, user ID, and
password to your Web browser.
For opening pages containing personal account information at commercial
sites, Web Confidential offers you the one-click convenience of its Password
Shared Menu, saving you from having to retype your user ID and password each
time you log in.
To ensure the personal information stored in Web Confidential remains
confidential, the program's password files can be encrypted using
state-of-the-art encryption technology.
