Comments: This document is a walkthrough provided to assist the player in completing the game while acquiring the maximum number of points. This walkthrough primarily steps the player through the necessary moves, but does add a few not so necessary moves to fill in the story. However, by only following this path you will not experience everything Augustine has to offer. The player will never see some locations, hear certain conversations, or view a lot of the scenery. So, I encourage you to use this only when you need some help. For anyone who doesn't care for a straight forward walkthrough, a separate HTML hint file (aug_hint.html) is also available which gives less direct hints throughout the game. WALKTHROUGH [Prologue] X SISTER The task of bringing the lunch to your father is completely unnecessary. It can be completed, but is included primarily to give your character a sense of purpose and need to explore his surroundings. Eventually, the first major event will occur, but the following steps will hasten it's beginning. SOUTH SOUTH NORTH NORTHEAST NORTH SOUTH SOUTHEAST When you reach the road in front of your hut, the town will be invaded. The following steps will allow you to survive the attack. SOUTH Z Z Z NORTH NORTHEAST After you finish reading the cutscene you will be outside of Aberystwyth Castle. INVENTORY NORTH NORTHWEST X CRACKS OPEN DOOR NORTH DOWN WEST SOUTHWEST WEST Now you should be in Kasil's chamber and ready for your first battle. You should follow Shannon as she leads you through the streets of the city. However, if you stray from the path, she will wait patiently for you to catch up to the group. The following directions will get you through the tour. SOUTH EAST EAST SOUTH WEST WEST NORTH NORTH WEST WEST NORTH NORTHEAST SOUTH This is the end of PART ONE. After reading the INTERLUDE things should start to make a little more sense. When that is finished you will find yourself back in your office. [Part Two] STAND INVENTORY You should notice you are now wearing Elswynnear. At this stage of the game the office is the only location you can experiment with the sword. You may wish to take some time to manipulate it and the sheath to see how it reacts. However, before you leave your office make sure Elswynnear is in it's sheath and you are wearing the sheath. NORTH DOWN EAST NORTH WEST TALK TO SHANNON or ASK SHANNON ABOUT HERSELF At the end of your conversation Shannon leaves to get the man his ticket. Eventually, she will return but in the meantime you can study and talk to the man. When the man gets his ticket and leaves you can continue with the following steps. EAST WEST BUY SAILING TICKET EAST The evening passes and you now find yourself in the Parking Lot next to your office on the following evening. EAST EAST EAST EAST EAST EAST By now you should be on the Freedom with a Pirate waiting to help passengers. GIVE TICKET TO PIRATE EAST EAST SOUTH SIT Z Z Z [San Augustin, 1600's] During the narration you will be asked if you want to wear a blindfold. Type N. Next, you will be asked if you want your hands bound. Once again, refuse by typing N. Next, you will be taken to the mission and Celestina will ask you how you are feeling. Respond with any one word answer. You will now be bathed over the next several turns. There is little more you can do except for talk with Celestina. For maximum points, you should ASK CELESTINA ABOUT the following: HERSELF ME US While you get no extra points for asking other questions, feel free to ask anything you want, including about her FATHER and the CITY. Eventually, Celestina finishes the bath and Santiago enters. When Celestina leaves Santiago invites you to ask questions of him. For maximum points, ASK SANTIAGO ABOUT: HIMSELF CELESTINA While you get no extra points for asking other questions, feel free to ask anything you want, including about the CITY, ME and US. Eventually, Santiago leaves and you are released from the mission. STAND EAST GET SWORD SLASH AT KASIL or THRUST AT KASIL PARRY KASIL You will now be given the opportunity to kill Kasil. Refuse by typing N. EAST NORTH NORTHEAST GET SWORD SLASH AT KASIL or THRUST AT KASIL [St. Augustine, 2002, The Freedom] You are now back on the Freedom and Kasil has taken a hostage. For the next several turns you can do whatever you wish, except get your sword. If you enter the same area of the ship as Kasil with your sword drawn, Shannon will die. Otherwise, you can stand, walk around, examine people or things, try to talk to people, or just wait patiently until the Augustine 1821 sequence begins. [St. Augustine 1821] TALK TO WOMAN TALK TO MAN EAST TALK TO WOMAN WEST TALK TO MARIE EAST EAST NORTH NORTH NORTH NORTHEAST NORTH SOUTH Accept Marie's offer of lunch by typing Y. When the funeral starts, simply wait (Z) and watch until you see blood. Then you can either TELL or ASK someone ABOUT THE BLOOD, or simply STOP FUNERAL. You have several different options with the second funeral. You might want to wait a couple of turns to see how the funeral progresses. Then you can choose to let the funeral finish, STOP FUNERAL, forcibly stop the funeral with GET SWORD, or simple walk away. Either option will lead to the same result, but the immediate story line alters slightly to accommodate your decision. SOUTH SOUTH KNOCK ON DOOR NORTH NORTH EAST NORTH Now you should be at the city gates and can see Kasil. He turns and leaves. Follow him with the following steps. NORTHWEST NORTHWEST NORTHWEST WEST GET SWORD WEST At this point you will find yourself engaged in another battle with Kasil. It will take several turns to get through this battle. SLASH AT, THRUST AT, PARRY or WAIT (Z) in any combination you want to. You will eventually end up at the same place and obtain the same information. The only difference will be slight changes in the immediate story line to accommodate your various decisions.
