Subject: Re: Need help in how to start making 1st homade kite. I would reccomend one of the kits available from from Hang Em High in Richmond, VA. I made my first kite from one. It had excellent instructions and all nylon was precut. Now I have a Delta Conyne which looks pretty nice >From 200 feet. Doesn't look all that nice up close but that is entirely my lack of sewing expertise. It does fly well though. I don't have their phone number handy but it is available in the FAQ. If you have problems or other questions, EMail me directly if you wish. I am now working on an XITR from Goodwind Kites as my second kite. It is a pattern only for a two line stunt kite. I would go with the easy one first. Here's a few things you can do: Contact Goodwind's Kite in Seattle, WA at (206) 632-6151. They have some full-size patterns complete with step-by-step instructions. You have to buy the materials, but there is a complete list of everything you need. There are two delta stunt kites, the 56" Wind Cheater and the 96" Xciter. I would also suggest Stunt Kites to Make and Fly and Stunt Kites II by Servaas van der Horst and Nop Velthuizen. Lots of good info on kite construction as well as plans for several different types of kites. If you have a PC and a printer, get Kite 2.0, the companion software to SK II. It allows you to print out plans for the kites in the book. Beyond that, just stay tuned to this newsgroup and ask questions. There are a lot of experienced people here who are very generous with their expertise. Good luck and let us know how your first kite turns out.
