United States - Monorails
There are only a few monorail trains in the whole USA. Probably the most
famous one is the one that Walt Disney himself designed for his future city in Disneyland, Anaheim, California. The first
monorail to be taken into "real use" in mass transport was however this one, the famous Seattle center monorail. It was opened
in 1962. The trains were built by the company Alweg in 1961 and they are still used. The line is 1,54 km long. There are two
tracks with one train on each track. The system has been declared a national monument. Picture in Seattle 26.10.2007 by

This picture of the Seattle monorail close to the city center terminus is almost ten years newer than the pictures
above, but very little has changed. Except that in 2017 only one of the two trains was in use and the other one was broken.

This is where it all started: The monorail of Walt Disney's Disneyland future city Tomorrowland. Disney planned it himself.
First trains, called Mark I, rode in 1959. The current trains are called Mark VII. The trains run on 600V DC current.

Another one of the Disneyland monorail trains. They all have different colours and they are painted with special paints
that make the trains look differently coloured when seen from different angles.
