I received some shocking news today. A good friend, talented artist, comedian, kiteflier, and happy father, Chuck Walker me with a fatal accident yesterday. He was traveling to Arizona for the Balloon Festival in Albuquerque to visit an old friend and spen d a week's vacation with his family. Apparently, Chuck fell asleep at the wheel. Lisa, his wife, is in stable condition and their daughter, Kelsey is okay. Chuck moved to Colorado to fulfill a lifelong dream he and Lisa shared. Chuck loved skiing and snowboarding and his goal in moving brought him closer to this dream. His first winter two years ago he broke his leg while snowboarding and missed much of the season, but last winter he tore up the slopes. Chuck had a great love for outdoor activities including rollerblading, mountain biking, football and kiting. He most recently told me how he would take his daughter Kelsey on cruises around the hiking paths, C huck on rollerblades, Kelsey in the bigwheeled carriage. He was one happy guy. Most recently Chuck had been working for a graphic design firm in Colorado and keeping very busy. Not too busy to help out some old friend with some design work and ideas. Chuck was responsible for the first issue of Sport Kiting and for the work in the u pcoming 2nd issue. His design work was always fresh and innovative. Working with Chuck was always a pleasure and his enthusiasm always came through in his work. Chuck was also responsible for the logos of the ECSKC, MASKC, NYSKC, Vermin and more. If you re member he even printed a shirt Wheres the Motor back about eight years ago when wings made noise. I am most saddened that someone so full of happiness, with a new job, new house, one year old baby, new life could be stolen from us with so much more to give. Our thoughts are with Lisa and Kelsey. We want to do something special for them, just not sure what is appropriate yet. vermin = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
