From: rommel@jonas.gold.sub.org (Kai Uwe Rommel) Subject: PGP 2.2 for OS/2 available Date: Tue, 09 Mar 93 23:48:56 MET OS/2 executables for PGP 2.2 are available from ftp.uni-erlangen.de, pub/pc/os2/fauern/crypt/pgp22os2.zip The archive contains 16-bit (OS/2 1.x) and 32-bit (OS/2 2.x) executables. The 16-bit one runs under OS/2 2.x and even under plain DOS as well, while the 32-bit one runs under OS/2 2.x only. I did not do too extensive testing (due to lack of time at the moment) but it seems to function normally. Kai Uwe Rommel ----- Subject: Re: PGP 2.2 for OS/2 available Date: Wed, 10 Mar 93 08:07:56 MET Sorry for my laziness, I should have mentioned, what PGP *is* (to comp.os.os2.apps readers, sci.crypt readers will be familiar with it). PGP is a free public key encryption program for personal use, the three letters stand for "pretty good privacy". See discussions in sci.crypt for details or read the docs included with the program. I should also have mentioned, that people should not upload the program and/or the source code (which is also available from the same place) to any archive in the US that is accessible from outside the US. While PGP was written outside the US and can be imported into the US by individuals using it, it may not be re-exported from the US (silly regulations). If you put it onto an FTP site or BBS where non-US users may download it, you can cause the archive owner/ maintainer a lot of trouble. PGP is available from many european (I don't know about other, such as australian) ftp sites. Other european sites that carry OS/2 software (there are quite a few in Germany alone) are encouraged to mirror PGP for OS/2 from the above site.
